Parking Heaven is a smartphone application designed to assist drivers in busy urban areas by facilitating the search for available public parking spaces. This innovative tool not only helps users save significant time and money but also sets itself apart from other parking apps by connecting drivers in need of a space with those who are vacating one.
The statistics reveal the pressing need for such a solution, with Americans collectively spending nearly $73 billion annually due to parking challenges (INRIX, 2017). Despite the widespread issue, there is a lack of effective initiatives addressing this substantial cost and inconvenience for drivers.
Research indicates that approximately 77% of drivers in the United States own smartphones, equating to around 207 million individuals (Schmitt, 2017). In major cities like New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago, where over 100 million smartphone users reside, the struggle to secure parking spots on a daily basis is a common ordeal. On average, drivers spend 17 hours per year aimlessly searching for parking (INRIX, 2017).
Upon downloading and registering on Parking Heaven, users are provided with tokens to utilize in their quest for parking. Each token allows for one search for an available space. To obtain additional tokens, users must offer up a parking spot when departing one. This unique system incentivizes drivers to contribute to the shared pool of available spaces. Notably, tokens cannot be purchased with currency but must be earned through the exchange of parking spots.
